2015-16 Keith Kirkdorfer Memorial Scholarship Recipients

Maddy Carter
Madeline will enroll at the University of Michigan.  She seeks a career focused on political and social action through either business or law. She served as a representative, secretary, and treasurer for the Student Council.  Madeline was a member of the varsity cross country team as a sophomore and was a member of Students against Destructive Decisions (SADD).  A dancer, she has participated in many fundraising activities and has been a volunteer counselor and aide at Camp Tannadoonah as part of the Camp Fire USA organization.  She also has been a substitute dance teacher for Miss Kathy’s School of Dance in Dowagiac, Niles, and Decatur, Michigan.

Adam Duke
Adam will enroll at Grand Valley State University to pursue a degree in mechanical engineering.  During high school, he was a member of the robotics team and played on the tennis team as a sophomore.  He also was a member of the Boys Scouts of America, and participated in many activities through a religious youth group.  For three summers, he was employed by the Jewish Federation of South Bend as a summer camp counselor.

Alise Markel
Alise will enroll at the University of Michigan and plans to study either nursing or pre-physical therapy.  She played basketball and softball throughout her high school years and was a member of the National Honor Society, the Student Council, and Students against Destructive Decisions (SADD).   Additionally, she participated in Operation Christmas, basketball kids’ leagues, and Special Olympics.  Her employers have included Beef O’Bradys, Little Blessings Daycare, and Doc’s F.

Sydney Moore
Sydney will attend Southwestern Michigan College with a goal of transferring to a four-year college to earn a bachelor’s degree and then study to become a pediatric nurse practitioner.  She was a varsity cheerleader beginning in her junior year and a member of Students against Destructive Decisions (SADD). Community service has included the Little Kids’ Cheer Camp, Relay for Life, and the Cass County Cancer Service.  Employers have included Midland Machine, and the Niles-Buchanan YMCA.
