2012-13 Keith Kirkdorfer Memorial Scholarship Recipients

Sydney Brancaleon
Sydney Brancaleon of Cassopolis MI is enrolled at Michigan State University to pursue an undergraduate degree in biochemistry or biology and then continue to earn a doctoral degree in veterinarian medicine.  Sydney has volunteered as well as being employed at Krider’s Veterinary Clinic.  During high school, she was a member of the National Honor Society, BPA, HOPE, SADD and the junior varsity tennis team.  She is a member of 4-H.

Josh Clark
Joshua Clark of Niles MI plans to attend Washington University in St. Louis to major in chemical engineering.  Washington U. currently is the only university with an Environmental, Energy and Chemical engineering department that fits into Joshua’s career plan to conduct research for renewable energy sources and alternative fuel sources.  Joshua had a very active high school career with participation in varsity track, cross country, and soccer.  He served as treasurer for the National Honor Society as well as senior class treasurer for student council.  He has worked as a caregiver as well as a calculus tutor.

Angel Ludwick
Angel Ludwick of Edwardsburg MI is planning to attend Michigan State University to earn a degree in nursing.  Angel has been a member of the National Honor Society, SADD, Future Problem Solvers as well as the LEO program.  She also played soccer.  Angel was a caregiver for children of several families and helped her father on construction site jobs.

Meghan Monaghan
Meghan Monaghan of Edwardsburg MI is planning to major in biology at a yet undetermined university and then move on to a medical school to become a doctor.  The University of Michigan and Loyola University are her first choices.  Meghan is a lifeguard at the Niles-Buchanan YMCA and teaches swimming as well. During high school, Meghan played softball, ran cross country and was a member of SADD and the National Honor Society.

Ethan Zimmerman
Ethan Zimmerman of Niles MI is planning to attend either Hope College or the University of Michigan to study biology and then move on to medical school with the ultimate goal of becoming a doctor in Sports Medicine.  Also on his agenda is to study forestry and arboriculture.  Ethan participated in football, baseball and basketball for four years and was a student council member for four years.  He volunteered with Big Brothers/Big Sisters, at Ronald McDonald house, as a ER volunteer at Lakeland, and with rocket football and Little League.  He has worked at BNL Properties as a maintenance person and also assisted in his father’s business.
